Unistat : "paternity test dallas" : Patient Identification for Chain of Custody
Patient Identification for Chain of Custody
A legal paternity test requires a Chain of Custody documentation
process in order to be legally admissible (accepted by courts and
other government agencies). The tested parties will be asked to do
the following when they come to their appointments:
- Present government-issued identification for the adults
- Present one of the following for minors: birth certificate, social security card, crib card, or shot record
- Be photographed and fingerprinted
- Complete a Client Identification and Consent Form (the minor’s consent form should be signed by the legal guardian)
Sample Collection
DNA samples are collected using buccal swabs. The sample collector
rubs a cotton-like swab against the inside of the patient’s cheek
to collect loose cells. He or she then packages the samples and
seals them with tamper tape. When our laboratory receives the
samples, we first check for any evidence of tampering to make sure
that the chain of custody has been strictly observed.
DNA Test in the Laboratory
Within the laboratory, we extract DNA from the swabs and use the
Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) together with at least 16 primers to
create a “map” of each person’s DNA, called a DNA profile. The
16 primers we use include the 13 CODIS markers that the FBI uses in
their investigations to identify individuals.
The tested parties’ DNA profiles are then compared to determine the alleged father’s probability of paternity. The results will show either a 100% exclusion (the alleged father is not the biological father) or at least a 99.99% inclusion (the alleged father is considered the biological father). For paternity tests performed without the mother’s participation, results will show at least a 99.9% inclusion.
Are you really the father???
"I'm separated from my spouse and have been paying child support for two children for five years. With GeneTree, I was able to do DNA tests on both children. When the results came back, I was devastated. The Paternity Analysis Report read that the probability of paternity was 0% for both children. The court dismissed the child support and freed me of all responsibilities. Thanks again GeneTree" - P Hernandez.
Paternity Tests are used in 70 different countries and
all 50 United States. Done in a Laboratory, they provide
airtight evidence of when a child's custody or support is at
stake. The proof that's absolutely necessary in a court of
law.
Unlike our home paternity test, the Legal DNA Paternity Test
tracks your DNA samples from the time they're collected at
one of our DNA collection sites until the time they arrive
in our DNA testing laboratory. That ensures they're
admissible as evidence in a courtroom.
Order
your DNA test now and get the airtight evidence you need.
Results are admissible in most courts of law. If you are interested in personal paternity testing using our kit for collecting specimens at home, see our Personal DNA Paternity Testpage.
