Wanted man caught at paternity test

CENTRAL FALLS - He dodged the law and ran from the prison guards who held the keys to his home.
But when the DCYF told Wilfredo Castillo to show up for a paternity test, he decided to comply.
It put him behind bars.
Castillo, 25, of Summit Street, was arrested Friday at 11 a.m. at the offices of the Department of Children Youth and Families on Roosevelt Avenue in Pawtucket.
"He was in there for a test," said Detective Lt. Albert Cardoza. "Someone recognized him from his picture in The Times, and called the Pawtucket Police. They called us.
"When we showed up, he was still there."
Police have been looking for Castillo since Jan. 10, when drug detectives knocked down the door to his home and came away with 80 small bags of marijuana, five grams of cocaine, two digital scales, packaging materials and business records, police allege.
Castillo wasn't at home when police called and he also wasn't at work, so that made him, officially, a prison escapee. Castillo was serving a sentence on home confinement because of a half-dozen arrests for driving without a license.
Home confinement isn't an option now. Castillo was charged Friday with possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine with the intent to sell the drugs. Both of those charges automatically result in a defendant being held at the ACI pending a hearing in District Court to determine if bail should be granted while the defendant is awaiting trial.
Castillo must also serve out his time behind bars on the suspended license charge and faces a possible two year sentence because running away from home confinement is the legal equivalent of escaping from the ACI.
He was arrested without incident at the DCYF.
The drug charges and the escape charge lodged against him Friday will be referred to the Attorney General for prosecution in Superior Court.
